CONVENTION MENTIONS
Red Cross Korea Service
The 2022 ARCOA Convention is pleased to recognize anyone who has or is serving with Red Cross in Korea. The Convention dates were selected to allow for attendance at the Dedication of the Wall of Remembrance at the Korean War Veterans Memorial on July 27, 2022. The Convention is for everyone but let’s give a special shoutout to Red Crossers with time in Korea.
Washington D.C. + July = HOT AND HUMID!
Please remember to bring sunscreen, a hat, and whatever else you may need. Consider bringing a refillable water bottle as your contribution to helping the environment, keeping the city clean, and just being a good steward of resources. Of course, you may need a shawl or light sweater for air-conditioned buildings!
ARCOA Raffle
Reminder that there will NOT be a silent auction this year – just a raffle. Prizes will be drawn at the Farewell Luncheon on July 29th. Raffle tickets will be sold throughout the Convention. We are shameless!
ARCOA is looking for 10-12, easily packed, highly desirable items. If you think you have an item or item(s) that would attract a lot of raffle tickets, please contact SHIRLEY POWERS, arcshirley@yahoo.com or 505-821-2735. THANK YOU.
BE A TOURIST IN WASHINGTON D.C.
So much to do, so much to see, how to decide???? At this time (February 2022), it is hard to know what July in Washington D.C. will be like. PLEASE go online or call various places to determine availability for visiting, touring, eating, etc. Many museums and attractions require timed entry with limited attendance. RESERVATIONS ARE STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. At this time, proof of vaccination/boosters or a current negative Covid-19 test are required in restaurants. Obviously, we hope that all the issues facing businesses and nonprofits will be gone by July, but it would be foolish to not prepare ahead. Below is some contact information for popular destinations to help you make plans for your visit. Refer to the Convention Information page to help you plan any free time activities if you are interested in doing so or on days before and/or after the Convention. We want you to enjoy this time.
